What Is Food-Grade Packaging?
Food-grade packaging is made from materials that are certified safe for direct contact with food products. This means the packaging materials won’t leach chemicals, contaminate contents, or degrade in ways that affect product safety.
Materials That Make the Difference
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
PET is the most widely used food-grade plastic. It’s transparent, strong, lightweight, and creates an excellent barrier against moisture and gases. All CaliPack Pro mylar bags use food-grade PET as the outer layer.
Aluminium Laminate
The inner aluminium layer provides three critical functions:
- Light barrier — Blocks UV rays that degrade product quality
- Moisture barrier — Prevents humidity from reaching contents
- Odour barrier — Keeps contents smell-proof and prevents external odours from contaminating the product
Heat Seal + Zip Lock Closure
The dual closure system provides both initial tamper evidence (heat seal) and convenient resealability (zip lock). This maintains freshness throughout the product’s shelf life.
